Laolu Akande, former spokesperson for ex-Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, has highlighted a significant trend in the United States: most radio stations are now playing Nigerian music on a daily basis.
Akande described this development as a remarkable achievement for Nigerian artists and the country as a whole.
“There is virtually no radio station in the United States that doesn’t play Nigerian music every day. It’s a big deal. It’s one of the reasons why they respect us. Our music is everywhere. Every radio station in New York plays the latest music releases from Nigeria, and that’s a big deal,” he said.
Akande emphasized that this growing presence of Nigerian music abroad helps to portray Nigeria positively, showcasing the country’s vibrant culture and talent on an international stage.
