Folakemi Falana, the daughter of renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana and sister to Nigerian rapper Falz, has issued a firm rebuttal against accusations of bribery, corruption, and perversion of justice involving her family and Nigerian socialite Bobrisky. These allegations were made by social media personality VeryDarkMan (VDM), who claimed that the Falanas had been involved in securing a VIP prison stay for Bobrisky and arranging a settlement for his release.

In a statement posted on her Instagram page, Folakemi clarified that neither her father nor her brother had ever met Bobrisky, and no discussions regarding a presidential pardon had taken place between them. She noted that Bobrisky reached out to Falz for financial assistance, stating that he needed money to stay in the VIP section of prison, but there was no mention of any legal involvement.

Folakemi shared documentation showing her family law firm, Falana & Falana, has been applying for presidential pardons free of charge since 2016, stressing that the public accusations were baseless. “It’s crazy that some Nigerians act like they can’t read or think for themselves,” she wrote, condemning the spread of false information. She expressed her frustration with the quickness of some Nigerians to believe these claims, including allegations that Falz was involved in a relationship with Bobrisky.

Legal Threat Against VDM

Folakemi didn’t mince words in her response to VDM, threatening legal action. “Seeing as you have refused to do the needful, #verydarkblackman see you in court,” she concluded.

This comes after VDM released audio recordings in which Bobrisky allegedly claimed that Femi Falana and Falz had intervened on his behalf before his release from prison. The recordings also suggested that a settlement of ₦10 million had been arranged.

In response, Falz issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VDM, demanding the retraction of all defamatory statements or face legal consequences.
