A wave of anger swept through Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday after Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara offered a monetary gift to protesting youths.

Addressing the demonstrators, Governor Fubara acknowledged their frustrations and said, “You are here because you want a better Nigeria. I am one of you. I see your pains. I will convey your message to the President.”

Despite his assurances, many protesters were offended by the Governor’s offer of money. Some youths responded by chanting, “How much can you give us? We want good governance and not money. Keep your money,” expressing their dissatisfaction with the gesture.
