Controversial Nigerian singer, Portable, has publicly urged crossdresser Bobrisky, whose real name is Idris Okuneye, to reconsider her lifestyle and seek repentance from “sinful ways.” Portable’s advice comes as Bobrisky faces mounting legal issues and personal challenges, including allegations of bribery and suicidal thoughts.
Bobrisky’s Legal Battles
Bobrisky was released from prison on August 5 after serving part of a six-month sentence imposed on April 12 for her involvement in the abuse of Nigeria’s currency, the naira. However, fresh controversy erupted when social media influencer Martin Otse, popularly known as ‘VeryDarkMan’, shared an alleged audio recording online, in which Bobrisky reportedly admitted to bribing officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). According to Otse, Bobrisky claimed to have paid ₦15 million to have the charges against her dropped.
Bobrisky, a popular transgender social media personality, denied these accusations, dismissing the audio as fake. She insisted that she had not paid any bribe and served her full term in prison. “I served my term in prison,” Bobrisky stated, refuting the claims of bribery.
The EFCC, however, has summoned both Bobrisky and Otse for questioning, with EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordering an investigation into the matter, further intensifying the public scandal.
Falz Adds Fuel to the Fire
Adding to the controversy, Nigerian rapper Falz lent credibility to Otse’s claims. In a letter warning the activist, Falz revealed that Bobrisky had allegedly approached him seeking ₦3 million to pay officials in exchange for a VIP section in prison—a request he declined.
As the investigation continues, Bobrisky’s public image faces increasing scrutiny. Amid the legal and public pressure, she recently admitted to struggling with suicidal thoughts but emphasized that she was not seeking sympathy. Instead, Bobrisky has asked for support as she navigates through these trying times.
Portable’s Message of Redemption
In response to these developments, Portable took to Instagram to offer Bobrisky words of encouragement, urging her to abandon any thoughts of suicide and instead seek forgiveness from God.
“Bobrisky, life is risky. God does not want sinners to die. Tell him to repent. Damn it to any sinner that does not repent. If you die, you are going to hell. Beg God to forgive you. God does not want a sinner to die,” Portable said.
He further implored Bobrisky to embrace a path of redemption, suggesting that she could find peace and happiness through repentance. “Help me tell Bobrisky to ask God for forgiveness. All Bobrisky needs is to ask God for forgiveness of sin. What Bobrisky is facing now, if he repents, he will enjoy the world. But if he does not repent,” Portable added, leaving the message unfinished but clear in its tone.
As Bobrisky grapples with legal battles, personal challenges, and public judgment, it remains to be seen how she will respond to Portable’s advice and the ongoing allegations against her.
