A tragic incident has unfolded in Ilorin, Kwara State, where 21-year-old Mojisola Awesu, a student at the Kwara State College of Health Technology, was found dead at a refuse dump. Awesu had been contracted by a friend to pose as a girlfriend for N15,000 at a party organized by students from Summit University and Al-Hikmah University.

On August 12, 2024, a resident of Aleniboro reported discovering a lifeless body at a refuse dump. The Kwara Police, upon investigating the scene, identified the deceased as Awesu and subsequently transported the body to a morgue. This discovery came shortly after a missing person report was filed by Awesu’s roommate, Miss Blessing, on August 13.

Miss Blessing had reported that Awesu went to attend an event on August 9, 2024, after being contacted by Miss Timileyin, who informed her about the party. Timileyin introduced Awesu to Mr. Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who invited her to the party with the promise of N15,000 for acting as his girlfriend.

Upon arriving in Ilorin, Awesu communicated with her roommate, expressing discomfort with the hotel accommodation provided by Adebayo and noting that the anticipated party was not taking place. After this conversation, Awesu’s phone was turned off, and subsequent attempts by her roommate to reach her were unsuccessful.

The Kwara State Police have arrested several suspects in connection with the case. The investigation is ongoing, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a more detailed probe.
