Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been placed on suicide watch as he faces trial on sex trafficking and racketeering charges, following a denied bail request.

American rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has reportedly been placed on suicide watch as he faces trial on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering. This precautionary measure follows his appearance in court on Wednesday, where he requested a $50 million bail package to avoid detention at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Centre. The judge denied the request.

The suicide watch is being implemented as a “preventative measure” while Diddy awaits further court proceedings.

Diddy’s legal team argued that he does not pose a danger, but the judge remained unconvinced. Prosecutors presented text messages allegedly sent by Diddy to his ex, Cassie Ventura, after a 2016 incident to bolster their case for his continued detention. One message reportedly read, “Call me, the cops are here. I got six kids. You, please call. I’m surrounded. You gonna abandon me all alone.”

Diddy has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering, sex trafficking, and transporting individuals for prostitution, maintaining his innocence throughout the proceedings.
