Hundreds of travelers are currently stranded at the Suleja axis of the Abuja-Kaduna highway in Niger State due to a protest that has blocked the free flow of traffic.
Abubakar Ibrahim, an Abuja resident traveling to Kaduna, reported that his vehicle had been stuck for over two hours near Gauraka junction. “I left Zuba town before 10 am, but we have been stopped here at Gauraka junction for about two hours because protesting youths have blocked the highway,” Ibrahim said around 11:40 am on Thursday.
The gridlock stretches several kilometers, from Aluminum Village to the nearby Zuma military barracks. “There are a few policemen standing from afar, but they can’t do anything about the roadblock as the number of youths is beyond their control,” Ibrahim added.
The situation remains tense, with no clear indication of when the road will be cleared and normal traffic flow will resume.
