Reports suggesting that Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) have been debunked by his media aide, Valentine Obienyem.

Obienyem clarified that there is no truth to the rumors of Obi’s arrest at his home in Anambra State, emphasizing that the former governor was not even in the country at the time the alleged incident was said to have occurred. He stated that Obi was in Rwanda on Saturday, attending to important engagements, and has since returned to Nigeria, where he is currently in Edo State, actively involved in party and national matters.

Additionally, Obienyem refuted claims that Obi’s wife, Margaret, had been arrested, labeling such stories as completely false and baseless.

“There was no DSS operation at his residence, and no arrest was made,” Obienyem stressed, urging the public to disregard the rumor and avoid spreading misinformation. He assured that Obi remains focused on his commitment to the nation, with his team dedicated to providing accurate updates on his activities.
