The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Chibunnma Chimelie, for allegedly stabbing his 68-year-old father to death. The incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 10:00 p.m. in the Isolo area of Lagos.
Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday. According to Hundeyin, the suspect’s brother reported the incident to the Aswani Police Divisional Station after receiving a call from a neighbor indicating that a dispute was taking place between the suspect and their father, who lived together in the same house.
Upon arriving at his father’s residence, the complainant discovered his father’s lifeless body in a pool of blood. Police quickly responded to the scene and apprehended Chimelie.
Investigators found a blood-stained knife near the victim’s body and took photographs of the scene. The victim was transported to the General Hospital in Isolo, where he was pronounced dead by medical personnel. The corpse has since been deposited in the hospital’s mortuary.
Hundeyin reported that the suspect has confessed to the crime, and an investigation is ongoing to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragic incident.
