A recent High Court judgment has brought an end to the speculation surrounding Abdullahi Ibrahim Rogo, the Director General of Protocol to the Kano State Government. The court ruled in favor of Rogo, dismissing allegations of financial mismanagement and fraud that had been leveled against hi

Rogo was accused of diverting billions of naira, with claims that N6.5 billion and N1 billion were directly linked to his office. However, investigations by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) found no evidence to support these claims.

The High Court’s judgment was based on the merit of evidence presented before it. By Saadatu Mohammad.
The court affirmed that since anti-graft agencies had failed to link Rogo to any fraud, there was no basis for him to be treated as a suspect, harassed, or hounded. The court therefore issued a final order enforcing Rogo’s fundamental rights, declaring that he should neither be arrested nor invited in connection with the matter.

The court’s decision has significant implications for Rogo and the Kano State government. It vindicates Rogo’s integrity and reputation, and upholds the government’s commitment to transparency and good governance. The judgment also highlights the importance of ensuring that allegations of corruption are thoroughly investigated and evidence-based, rather than relying on speculation and rumor.

The involvement of the former Jigawa state Attorney general, now Chairman of ICPC further cast wrinkles on the allegations against Rogo.
The former Attorney general, a card carrying member of the All progressive Congress (APC), had taken over the case from Kano state where Rogo was investigated and exonerated by relevant agency without a former petition to the Headquarters of The ICPC.

Reacting to the court’s decision, Rogo’s lawyer, Saadatu Mohammad, hailed the judgment as a victory for justice and the rule of law. They expressed relief that their client had been vindicated, and called for an end to the spread of misinformation and speculation about the case.

The High Court’s judgment is a significant development in the case of Abdullahi Rogo. It demonstrates the importance of upholding the principles of justice and fairness, even in the face of public pressure and speculation. As the case comes to a close, it is clear that Rogo’s integrity and reputation have been vindicated.
