The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Lagos Sector Command, has issued a warning against reckless driving after a fatal accident on the Kara Bridge section of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The crash, involving a White Volvo Truck, a White Toyota Hummer Bus, a Benz Bus, and a Black Boxer Motorcycle, claimed one life and left others injured.
FRSC Lagos State Commander Kehinde Hamzat confirmed the incident, stating that speeding, wrongful overtaking, and loss of control were the primary causes of the collision, which occurred at 3:33 a.m. on Thursday. Response teams arrived at the scene shortly after and worked alongside the police and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to manage the situation.
A good Samaritan assisted in transporting the injured victim to the hospital, while the deceased was respectfully handled. Hamzat expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged all road users to remain vigilant, adhere to speed limits, and practice safe driving.
“This heartbreaking incident underscores the need for heightened awareness and caution on the roads,” Hamzat emphasized, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring road safety.
