The Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Zaphaniah Jisalo, has praised the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) for its significant role in regulating the gaming and lottery industry in Nigeria and contributing to the nation’s economic development. Jisalo made the remarks during the 2024 stakeholders’ meeting hosted by the NLRC in Lagos, emphasizing the government’s continued support for the commission.

Jisalo highlighted that the NLRC’s performance has been impressive, stating that if the agency were not performing well, he would not have attended the event. The Director General of the NLRC, Lanre Gbajabiamila, reinforced the importance of responsible gaming and the commission’s ongoing efforts to engage with industry stakeholders, aiming to balance growth with social responsibility. He stressed that collaboration is key to creating a sustainable and trustworthy gaming industry that benefits Nigeria’s economy.

The meeting also featured remarks from the Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), Comrade Toyin Adeyanju, who urged operators to ensure accurate remittances to the fund to support its projects across the country. Dr. Maryam Keshinro, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, commended the collective efforts of the NLRC in maintaining excellence in the gaming industry.

The meeting underscored the vital role of the NLRC in shaping a gaming sector that aligns with Nigeria’s socioeconomic goals, ensuring both economic growth and social responsibility.
