Activist and lawyer Deji Adeyanju has disclosed that Nigerian singer and social media personality Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, is currently detained by the Nigerian Police Force in Abuja. According to Adeyanju, Speed Darlington was arrested following a petition filed by Grammy Award-winning artist Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy.

Adeyanju reported that Speed Darlington was apprehended in Lagos last Friday and subsequently transferred to Abuja, where he has remained in custody. However, details regarding the contents of the petition have not been disclosed in Adeyanju’s post on X (formerly Twitter).

In his update, Adeyanju stated, “We just spent the last 30 minutes with Speed Darlington, and he narrated how he was arrested in Lagos Friday last week, moved around, and eventually brought to Abuja, where he has been in detention since then. The petition against him was written by Burna Boy, we can confirm.”

The arrest follows a recent video in which Speed Darlington questioned the legitimacy of Burna Boy’s Grammy award, drawing connections between the acclaimed artist and controversial music mogul Sean Combs, known as P Diddy or Puff Daddy.

As of now, the Nigerian Police Force has not released any official information regarding the arrest. Meanwhile, Burna Boy stirred curiosity on his own X account earlier on Tuesday by posting, “Who’s missing?”
