Musa Saidu, Chairman of the Arewa Consultative Forum in Rivers State and Southern Nigeria, has voiced strong criticism against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, accusing his administration of favoritism towards the Igbo community and neglect of Northerners. Saidu highlighted the lack of Northerners in recent appointments, noting that only an Igbo man from Abia State was included in the list of commissioners.
In an interview with The Guardian, Saidu condemned what he perceives as ongoing marginalization of Northerners, which he argues has persisted from the era of former Governor Nyesom Wike. He expressed frustration over the perceived exclusion of Northerners from government contracts and appointments, accusing Fubara’s administration of being “entirely partial” and failing to represent the Northern community adequately.
Saidu urged Governor Fubara to address this perceived imbalance and ensure greater inclusivity in his government. He also called for a meeting with the governor to discuss these issues and prevent further division within the Northern community. Saidu emphasized that despite their support for Fubara’s administration, they expect a more equitable approach to governance that includes all groups in Rivers State.
