Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced a N60 billion allocation from the state government to Ibom Air for purchasing two new Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft. This investment aims to bolster the airline’s expansion and enhance regional air transportation.
Governor Eno made the announcement during a meeting with the socio-cultural group Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio. He highlighted that the state’s ability to fund the acquisition without external loans reflects his administration’s effective financial management. He emphasized the importance of creating an investment fund to ensure the state’s ongoing leadership and avoid perpetual debt.
In addition to the aircraft purchase, Governor Eno revealed plans to disburse N35 billion by the end of September 2024 to address nearly 50% of the backlog in gratuity payments.
Governor Eno praised Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio for its role in fostering unity among Akwa Ibom’s ethnic groups. The organization’s International President, Akparawa James Edet, endorsed Governor Eno’s second term, commending his development agenda.
