Fr. Kelvin Ugwu, a Catholic missionary priest stationed in Gambia, has advised the public to approach miraculous testimonies in churches with skepticism unless they are independently verified. His warning comes in response to controversial videos of church members sharing testimonies that have sparked debate about their authenticity.
In one video, an elderly woman claimed she had been attacked by armed robbers in a dream but managed to control their guns and have three robbers arrested. Another video featured a man who alleged he survived kidnapping, machete attacks, and gunshot wounds without injury, raising doubts about the veracity of these claims.
Fr. Ugwu emphasized on his Facebook page that such testimonies should be regarded as false or misleading unless confirmed through independent verification. “Don’t be carried away by the miracle testimonies you hear in churches or ministries; as long as they have not been independently verified, treat them as fake and lies,” he stated.
