The National Assembly Service Commission has appointed Kamoru Ogunlana as the new Clerk of the National Assembly. Ogunlana’s appointment follows the commencement of Sani Magaji Tambuwal’s retirement leave.

In a statement released on Thursday by Emmanuel Onyigor, Deputy Director of Information at the National Assembly Commission, it was confirmed that Ogunlana will officially take office on January 2, 2025. This decision was made during the 610th meeting of the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) held on November 6, 2024.

The appointment letter, signed by NASC Chairman Engr. Ahmed Kadi, noted Ogunlana’s exceptional administrative competence and track record of hard work. The Commission urged him to uphold the trust placed in him.

Tambuwal, who began his pre-retirement leave on November 1, 2024, delegated his duties to his deputy, Kamouroudeen Ogundele. Additionally, about thirty senior officials are set to retire alongside Tambuwal, following President Bola Tinubu’s rejection of a bill proposing their service extension.
