A fire engulfed the Pinnacle Oil filling station owned by Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah on Friday. Reports indicate that unknown arsonists set the station ablaze.
Witnesses stated that the assailants arrived in a Toyota Corolla. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, confirmed that the fire has been extinguished.
He noted, “A fire incident occurred at Pinnacle Filling Station on Agbani Road, Enugu, in the morning hours of today, September 20, 2024. The fire was swiftly controlled with assistance from both federal and state fire services.”
While no lives were lost, three vehicles waiting to refuel were destroyed. Normalcy has since returned to the area, according to police reports.
CP Uzuegbu mentioned that preliminary investigations suggest the fire may have originated from a fuel leak in one of the vehicles at the station. He has instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Police overseeing the State CID to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident.
