Victor Olatunji, a Nigerian striker, made a stunning UEFA Champions League debut on Wednesday, scoring a goal and providing an assist in Sparta Prague’s dominant 3-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg.
Olatunji netted Sparta’s second goal in the 42nd minute, followed by an assist in the 58th minute, setting up Qazim Laçi for the team’s third goal. His remarkable performance earned him a place among elite African players who have both scored and assisted in their first Champions League appearances.
According to Opta Joe, Olatunji became the third African player—and the first Nigerian—to achieve this feat in his Champions League debut, joining Daniel Cousin (Rangers, 2007) and Serge Aurier (PSG, 2015).
Following his goal, Olatunji celebrated by revealing a shirt with the inscription, “I am a Chosen, who are you?”—a reference to a viral trend originating from The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries, a movement that has recently sparked discussions on social media.

However, the leadership of the church has clarified that some videos have been altered, cautioning the public against misleading content.
