Gunmen have reportedly kidnapped Otunba Benedict Akika, a close ally of Governor Seyi Makinde and a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State. The abduction occurred late Wednesday night in Olohundaaba, Lagelu Local Government Area of the state.
According to initial, unconfirmed reports, Akika, known locally as “Benee,” was seized at his residence in Idi-Ape along Akobo Ojurin-Olohunda Road, Ibadan. Another unconfirmed report suggests that one person may have been killed during the incident.
As of now, details surrounding the kidnapping remain unclear, and relevant authorities are reportedly addressing the situation. Attempts to reach the state police headquarters for comment were unsuccessful, as Public Relations Officer SP Adewale Osifeso did not respond to calls.
