Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Group, has shed light on why the first samples of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, from his newly operational refinery appear clearer than the petrol currently available in the market.
In a recent broadcast from the Dangote Refinery in Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos State, Dangote explained that the clearer appearance of the petrol is not merely cosmetic but indicative of its higher quality and environmental benefits. He emphasized that the new petrol is designed to be more environmentally friendly, which could help mitigate health issues related to pollution from less refined petroleum products.
“This is the sample of the petrol. You see it as a different color, but that is the real deal,” Dangote said. “You are now going to have a good and real product.” He highlighted that this new petrol is expected to protect engines from damage and improve overall vehicle performance compared to the current market offerings.
Dangote also addressed the quality of the diesel produced at the refinery, noting that it features an unusual color due to its superior refinement. “I am sure Nigerians have not seen this color of diesel before,” he said. “This is called Euro-5 diesel. It contains less than 10 parts per million (PPM) of sulfur, which will help vehicles, engines, and generators last longer.”
He further underscored that the health of people and the environment will not be compromised by this new fuel. “This is the real deal,” Dangote reiterated, stressing that the refinery’s output is designed to enhance both environmental and health standards.
The introduction of these refined products from the Dangote Refinery is expected to set a new benchmark for fuel quality in Nigeria, offering benefits such as reduced environmental impact and improved engine longevity.
