The Lagos State Police Command has issued a warrant for the arrest of Dr. Idara Bassey in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman, Abiola, who died during a buttocks enlargement surgery at a clinic in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.

According to Lagos State Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin, Abiola had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure at the clinic, a cosmetic surgery involving the transfer of fat to enhance the buttocks. Tragically, the procedure turned fatal after a nurse, acting on Bassey’s instructions, administered an injection that caused Abiola to lose consciousness.

Despite warnings from medical professionals about the risks associated with BBL surgeries, the procedure remains popular among women seeking cosmetic enhancements.

Reports indicate that Abiola, a resident of Diamond Estate, Sangotedo, Ibeju Lekki, had traveled to the clinic on Monday for the surgery. Following the injection, she lost consciousness and began gasping for air, as reported by her driver who was present at the clinic.

The nurse involved in the procedure has been arrested by the police. However, Dr. Bassey, the clinic’s owner, is currently evading capture. Hundeyin confirmed that Dr. Bassey has been declared wanted and is a key suspect in the ongoing investigation.
