Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti are set to convene a crucial stakeholders meeting for the party. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 4, at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Umuahia.
Dodoh Okafor, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Alex Otti on Public Communication, stated that the meeting aims to strengthen and improve the Labour Party. The gathering will include a wide range of party members and leaders.
According to the meeting circular, attendees will include:
- Former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi
- Governor Alex Otti
- Former vice-presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed
- Julius Aburi-led executives
- Senators and House of Representatives members from the party
- Representatives from the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC)
- Vice-presidential candidate from the 2023 election
- The Deputy Governor of Abia State
- Serving and former Senators and House of Representatives members from the party
- Serving members of state Houses of Assembly
- Five members of the Abure-led National Working Committee (National Chairman, Deputy National Chairman, Secretary, Woman Leader, Youth Leader)
- Gubernatorial candidates from Edo and Ondo states
- Former gubernatorial candidates from each of the six geopolitical zones, including Mr. Ken Pela (Delta State – South West), Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (Lagos State – South South), Hon. Chijioke Edeoga (Enugu State – South East), Mr. Jonathan Asake (Kaduna State – North West), Mr. Patrick Dakum (Plateau State – North Central), and Mr. Keftin Amuga (Gombe State – North East).
This meeting marks a significant effort to consolidate the party’s structure and enhance its influence across Nigeria.
