The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has closed several establishments, including churches, hotels, and bars, for violating the state’s environmental laws, particularly concerning noise pollution.
In an enforcement operation spanning Mushin, Amuwo Odofin, and Okota Isolo, the agency targeted businesses that failed to comply with prior notices to adhere to environmental standards. Establishments affected include Daily Bakery, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Gak Universal Allied Limited, Ideal Standard, Franjane Royal Suites, Golden Haven Resort & Suites, Festival Hotel Conference Centre & SPA, FS Service Centre, and Moulin Rouge Ventures at Olivia Mall.
Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, General Manager of LASEPA, reiterated the agency’s zero-tolerance policy for violations that threaten public health and quality of life. “Noise pollution and the improper siting of hazardous facilities significantly impact community harmony. As a government agency, we are committed to enforcing all necessary measures to ensure compliance,” he stated.
LASEPA emphasized that environmental protection is a shared responsibility, urging businesses to adopt sustainable practices and Lagosians to report violations through official channels.
The enforcement is part of the state government’s broader effort to foster a healthier and more sustainable environment, highlighting the importance of compliance in maintaining public health and community well-being.
