Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has announced the immediate refund of ₦10,000 application fees charged to job seekers as part of the ongoing civil service recruitment process. This decision was communicated by the Secretary to the State Government, Olatokunbo Joseph Talabi, who clarified that the fee had been collected on behalf of third-party independent examiners responsible for overseeing the recruitment examination.
Talabi noted that while the ₦10,000 fee has been a standard and historical charge for decades, the state government decided to waive it in light of current economic conditions. The governor’s directive, issued via a statement on the Ogun State Government’s X handle, reflects a commitment to alleviate citizens’ financial burdens and enhance employment opportunities in the state.
The statement read: “Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun has directed the Chairman, Civil Service Commission, to refund all administrative fees currently being charged in relation to the ongoing recruitment exercise into the civil service. This decision, despite the historical nature of these fees, is a gesture of goodwill considering the current economic situation and the recruitment’s goal to create employment and alleviate suffering.”
